Puppies

We only produce a small number of litters each year, focusing on quality over quantity. As a result we normally have a waiting list of people wanting a pup from our next planned litter. We do not sell our pups to just anyone. They are very precious to us so please expect to be questioned rigorously on your suitability as a potential owner for one of our babies.

Our puppies are raised in the home and receive basic house and crate training before they leave us, something that very few breeders will undertake by 8 weeks. This means a smooth transition to their new home and hopefully no sleepless nights for their new mums and dads!

All our pups are KC registered and will leave us microchipped, with a supply of the food they’re used to, a scent blanket, treats, five generation pedigree, five weeks free insurance and a care sheet to help you in your first few weeks with your new best friend. Furthermore you will also get two weeks free subscription to the Gundog app to help with training your new addition, plus of course a lifetime of backup and support from us as and when you need it. Many of our puppies go to first time dog owners and we want to ensure that things go as smoothly as possible so that everyone is happy.

Being a dog trainer, I put in a lot of effort with early socialisation and training before they leave, this ensures that our pups will be well adjusted, confident little dogs that are ready to learn and shine in their new homes. From an early age we use a Bluetooth speaker to play different sounds to the pups so that they become accustomed to things that many dogs are fearful of including fireworks, thunder, gunshot and street sounds.

Most of our pups leave us at 8 weeks when they are fully weaned and ready to go. However we offer a foundation training service whereby we keep the puppy until 12 weeks and do more training with it on your behalf shaping basic behaviours such as walking to heel, recall to food, sit and stay. Pups kept until 12 weeks will have had their first vaccination and be used to short car journeys and trips out for socialisation. We only ever keep a maximum of two pups back for this service so it is offered on a first come first served basis, but is really useful if you would like a bit of a head start during the tricky early stages of owning a dog.

We really love to stay in touch with anyone who has had a Colquite puppy from us, and to see updates on how they’re getting on in their new families makes us so so happy. Of course we are always at the end of the phone for advice no matter how old your dog is, and we always want to know right away if anything changes and you aren’t able to keep your pup anymore for any reason.

If you would like to apply for a position on our waiting list please use our contact form or call us for a chat.
